PAST PLAYERS


  • John Glenny ‘Pants’ a tireless worker for the club, and still comes to games to score keep.

  • Dave Woodey ‘The Ref’ a Canadian and national referee helped the club as a player coach and referee and is now in Canada making the calls. 

  • Denim Blair ‘Mr. Slow Motion’ was a perennial high scorer to the club until he moved back to Canada.

  • Roy Meadows ‘Fists’ another 10 year man, now running hockey in the Isle of Whyte

  • Jack Jones ‘The Wall”, one of the original members of the club, and outstanding goalie.  He is now looking after his brood somewhere in England.

  • Jenny Jones one of the first women of the club, and now helping Jack look after their brood. 

  • Bill Gilbert ‘The Legend’ was a 10-year veteran and now is back in the west coast of the US playing old-timer hockey. 

  • Rob Charasidis ‘The Greek” our goal machine, now back in Montreal.

  • Peter Cap ‘ The Capper’ one of our Czechs and played in the world championships for GB, is now back in Prague.

  • Stephan Ligas ‘Speedy Gonzales’ a  past captain of the club, and one of our first Slovaks.  Steph moved back to the Slovakian mountains when wedding bells called.

  • David Hurst ‘Hursty’ one of our players who learnt his hockey with us and went on to play professional goal, and now living in Canada. Dave was offered a contract with the Slough Jets. He has played his last game with the Tornados (26/08/2000) and started his pro career with Slough.

  • Alan Gray, Goalie, played well over ten seasons and backstopped the club to three of the four national championships, and is now making kidlets in England.

  • Dwayne Pascal ‘The Star’ another 10 year plus member of the team and past captain, Perennial MVP of virtually every tournament we went in, and now with his bride in Scotland.

  • Brigadier Ray Romses,, ‘The General’ after managing the troops in the Balkans and Middle East, he retried and moved back to Canada still playing old timers somewhere in the depths of Saskatchewan.

  • Bruce Morris ‘ The Party Animal” From the Windy City’ backstopped us to a national championship, and many tournament winds.  He is now in real-estate and Oktoberfest somewhere in Germany.

  • Todd Carlson ‘The Philosopher’ who played for us for three seasons and left a lasting impression,  is now working in Dubai.

  • Rhian Hayes Galea, has been a big part of the club, her duties were in fund raising, acted as treasurer and web master, and she also played goal. Her marriage to Dom and motherhood duties caused her retirement.

  • Clare Pannell Fay, after many years as a GB representative, joined the Tornados, and brought her husband Mike into hockey.  She now spends her time looking after her kids, playing, and coaching for the Q-Bees.

  • Bas Hollander (Goalie) moved to Holland for a new job.

  • Bas Clark, Bas played GB at the world championships and then moved to Holland for a new job.

  • The Chiropractors – Tony VanHoof, Wes Elliot, Warren M Gage.  With the club for only three seasons, but all made a lasting impression and will always were their Tornados jersey proudly.  All have moved back to British Columbia.

  • Ilka Repo – The young flying Finn.  Ilka was one of the old-old timers and played 30 years under his age.

  • Gilles De Carufel - ‘Mr. Smooth’- Our really old French Canadian glob trotter, moved to Italy because of the women. 

  • Tim Curran, our American Banker, played for two seasons and Citi called him back to the US to straiten out their problems

  • Igor Iljin ‘The Latvian Giant’  Igor a long time friend of the club who also played for Eastern Star, moved back home to follow business interests and interests of the heart.

  • Justin Levy ‘The Vet’ A Canadian who moved to Scotland.

  • Luc LaFontan ‘The Iritator’ could always depend on Luke to upset the opposition, moved to Australia to manage a real estate empire

  • Luc Hemmings ‘Cuffs’ On of our Englishmen, A police man who moved to north London to keep the peace.

  • Dave L Crupton ‘Jock’  A Scott and a ten year veteran of the club, who retired to follow the snow on his snowboard and run the Territorial Army.

  • Glen Murphy only with the club for a season but his stunning defensive ability left us missing him greatly, Moved to Switzerland for business.

  • Anthony Mancini with the club for only two seasons but made a lot of friends and moved back to the US

  • Odd Bertel Bjorvik ‘The Viking’ Odd came to us as a pond skater and remained one but was the heart and sole of the team.  Retired due to back problems.

  • Mike Reynolds, one of our GB Oldtimers, retired at the height of his career.

  • Jason Mathews – The Pylon A- ½ of the Knobby and Mace pairing, 20 stone plus, a ten year plus Tornado, so many stories and so little space, Mace we miss you.

  • Steven Clark – The Pylon B- ½ of the Mace and Knobby pairing, 20 stone plus a ten year plus Tornado, so mayn stories and so little space, Knobby we miss you.

  • Jiri Matlach – One of our Czech players, who moves around England managing restaurants still plays for us in tournaments.

  • Patrick Flanigan – A Tornado for Two seasons but due to his party philosophy always dear to our hearts. Left the Tornados to play pro with Guildford and join the police.

  • Andy Downs long time Tornado bounced between the Tornados and ED1, moved to Bracknell, could not take the long drive to Slough.

  • Erkki Hyvarinen – Erkki a Finn played for the Tornados for three seasons, great guy, and moved back to Finland with work.

  • Stuart Spence – Having played for the Tornadoes for two years Stuart has decided to play ENL league hockey for the Lee Valley Lions. We wish him good luck for the future. * Note from Stuart: - I'd like to thank the whole Tornadoes team for making me feel so welcome and giving me the chance to play with you guys. Once again thanks for letting me skate with you and I hope to see you around. Stu.
